Neutron is the latest plugin from iZotope and features 6 effects in an intuitive channel strip style interface. Neutron offers 2 Compressors, a 12 band Dynamic EQ, and Exciter and a Transient Shaper alongside a Limiter that is taken from the technology used in their powerful mastering tool, Ozone 7. However, what makes Neutron so powerful is the innovative Assistant technology that will analyse your audio and then automatically apply what it considers to be a good starting point using any or all of the available plug-ins. This isn’t a 1 click fix, but it certainly offers a great starting point. From the initial testing we’ve done it provides some intelligent decisions that can clearly be heard improving the audio.
Add to this the ability to link the EQ of 2 separate instances of Neutron together and use the Masking function to compare and see where there are frequency build ups and then apply EQ to compensate if necessary is a great way of visually finding these issues. This is especially helpful for individuals new to applying EQ across a full mix or for those who are less confident in their abilities.
